Read simple and short essay on Noise Pollution. In this article, we will cover What is Noise Pollution, Sources of Noise Pollution, Types of Noise Pollution, Effects of Noise Pollution, Prevention of Noise Pollution.

Introduction of Noise Pollution

Word “Noise” is derived from the Latin word “nausea” means unwanted sound. Noise pollution is the sound that is loud, unpleasant and unexpected.

human activities are mainly responsible for noise pollution especially the urbanization and the development of transport and industries are originating noise pollution in urban areas.

the urban population is much more affected by noise pollution as compared to small-town/villages population. however small-town/villages alongside roads or industries are also affected by this problem of pollution.

Nowadays Noise is becoming increasingly omnipresent pollution at a global level which means it can be found everywhere. Noise pollution is an untouched form of pollution that we cannot see it.

The well-developed countries are also facing the problem of noise pollution
the road even they have very advanced Technologies of urbanization and developments.

Sources of Noise Pollution

These are some major sources of Noise pollution. These all sources are very important for development but originate unwanted noise also.

  • Road traffic
  • Jet planes
  • Trucks,
  • Buses,
  • Auto,
  • Garbage
  • Construction equipment
  • Events are also play a major role in Noise Pollution. Public gatherings, Weddings etc uses loudspeakers which causes noise pollution.

Noise Pollution Effects

Noise pollution is a slow and subtle killer or we can say it is a slow poison for lives. Noise pollution may cause following problems in Humans.

  • Hypertension:  High blood pressure (HBP)
  • Disruption in sleep,
  • Hinder cognitive development in children
  • It also has seen that excessive noise could cause a permanent loss of memory or a psychiatric disorder.

Types of noise pollution

1. Types of noise pollution on the Basis of Sources

i) Noise Pollution by Transport: Noise comes from Road and Traffic.

ii) Noise Pollution by Neighbours: Unwanted noise comes from our neighbours

iii) Noise pollution by Industries: Noise comes from the process of Urbanization, Manufacturing, Developments etc

2. Types of noise pollution on the Basis of Sources

1. Continuous noise: It comes continuously from factory equipment, engines, heating and ventilation systems.

2. Intermittent noise: level of Intermittent noise increases and decreases rapidly caused by a train passing by, factory equipment, or aircraft etc.

3. Impulsive noise: This is the noise of the construction and demolition industries.

4. Low-frequency noise: it is low background noise comes from a nearby power station or the roaring of large diesel engines etc.

Prevention of Noise Pollution

  • We have to avoid Honking in public places especially in teaching institutes, hospital, etc
  • We have to install adequate soundproof systems in public places such as hospitals, institution, and industrial buildings etc.
  • We have to avoid or Ban explosives in the forest, mining and mountainous, areas.
  • We have to use and follow desirable limits for Musical instruments sounds.
  • We have to do more and more plantation because dense trees are also very helpful to reduce the frequency of the noise.
  • We have to avoid the unnecessary use of Loudspeakers.
