Study in Details the Nomadic Elephant and SIMBEX

A ‘Nomadic Elephant’ is the name given to the Indo-Mongolian Joint Military Exercise. India and Mongolia are participating in this bilateral exercise. During the Nomadic Elephant exercise, troops from both armies participate. Several editions of this exercise have been conducted, the latest being the 14th edition. From October 5th to 18th, 2019, it was held.

The Indian Fleet has been conducting maritime exercises with foreign navies for the longest time. The two countries are still trusted each other’s defences despite the pandemic. The Singapore and Indian Navies were able to carry out advanced naval warfare sequences and live weapons firing smoothly and safely due to these limitations. Due to their size and complexity, the drills called the SIMBEXdemonstrate the Singapore and Indian Navies’ ability to work together seamlessly.

Nomadic Elephant Facts: In a nutshell

  • This is a joint military exercise between India and Mongolia
  • Nomadic Elephant 14th Edition took place in Bakloh Cantonment, Himachal Pradesh, in October 2019
  • The 084 Airborne-Special Task Battalion represented the Mongolian Army in Nomadic Elephant XIV, while the regiment of the RAJPUTANA RIFLES Regiment represented the Indian Army.
  • Under the United Nations (UN) mandate, Nomadic Elephant is designed to train army troops in counterterrorism and counterinsurgency operations.
  • In addition to promoting defence cooperation, Nomadic Elephant aims to enhance military relations between the two countries’ armed forces.
  • During Nomadic Elephant, the following tactical drills are conducted:
  • Convoy Protection Drill
  • Room Intervention Drills
  • Ambush/ Counter Ambush Drills
  • It is through such exercises that the Indian Army and Mongolian Army can enhance their interoperability

What is SIMBEX?

In 1994, the Singapore Navy began training with the Indian Navy as part of the Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise (SIMBEX). Over the years, the two countries have exchanged training modules and exchanged programmes for naval cooperation. India trains Singaporean troops at military bases such as Babina and Deolali Army camps.

SIMBEX stands for Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise. As early as 1994, the Indian Navy began a maritime exercise with a foreign navy called Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise. Since then, it has continued.

SIMBEX 28, held on the southern borders of the South China Sea, was a huge naval exercise.  This has caused them to become more interested in the same thing. The Democracy of Singapore Navy (RSN) held a maritime exercise called SIMBEX-2021, which is a joint maritime exercise between the two countries every year, which will take place in 2020 in the Andaman Sea and in 2021 in the southern parts of the South China Sea.

Singapore and India work together to protect their countries

Defence ties between India and Singapore are said to be very strong. Between the two countries, there are more than 20 regular bilateral procedures, talks, and exercises.

IONS and the East Asia Summit are both part of the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium, which brings together the G20 Commonwealth of Nations and the East Asia Summit.
